Go:Leif – Electric Boat Charging Project

Sweden and Norway together have over one million fossil-fuel-powered leisure boats whose carbon dioxide emissions are estimated at over 400 000 tons/year – plus environmentally harmful substances. The electric boat charging project Go:Leif, where Kungälv Municipality and Marstrand Harbour are project partners, aims to be part of the green transition through electrification, smart technology and sustainable business models.

Through the project partners there is strength and willingness to support the transition within electric boat charging and related services.

The project in brief

The project started in March 2023 and involves Swedish and Norwegian leisure boat harbors, municipal associations/county councils, business offices, technology experts and researchers. The goal is to create charging points along the coast from Gothenburg to Agder in Norway, as well as a digital platform for consumer information and a charging map. The project also includes workshops, a business network and two Nordic conferences.

Fast charger in Marstrand

Marstrands Harbour has installed a fast charger for electric boats with up to 50 kW/22 kW (DC & AC) as part of Go:Leif. It is located at the southern end of Hedvigsholmskajen on Koön.

Project partners
